It’s a lot harder than I thought to pick favourite photos from this past year. I had an unbelievable season, meeting new friends and catching up with old ones. All of these photos mean something to me, and more importantly, so do the people in them.
One of the things I’ve been struggling with this year has been to find consistency. Consistency amongst shoots, blogs, instagram, etc. I think that’s really important, so that you know what you get when you hire me as a photographer. Although that’s still a work in progress for me, I think one of the things I’m proud of is that I’m starting to see consistent themes coming through. One of those is that of all the emotions, I gravitate towards happiness in photos. I LOVE when I’ve captured someone mid laugh, especially when they’ve either forgotten that the camera is in front of them, or even better, don’t care! There’s nothing better than the feeling of nailing that and when I see the photos that represent that, it makes ME happy too.
I’ve got a lot of goals heading into this 2018 season, and one of them is to photograph more of the people that are closest to me. If you know me and my people, you’ll see a few of these important gems sneaking into this post, but more to come!
I think it’s important to note that these are my top 100 photos of the year. Unfortunately, they don’t represent everyone I’ve captured (it would take me forever to make that blog), but although not everyone is here, it doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate and love your photos too. These are just the ones that top the list for me, the tip of the iceberg so to speak, after the tens of thousands of times I’ve clicked the shutter in the past 12 months.
Thank you to all of you for trusting me with photographing you, whether it be your wedding, family shoot, headshot or other. Your support and encouragement means the world to me. Happy New Year! <3 <D
